BASE Jumping Festival
Washington, D.C.
With all the cool weather of late, it's clear we're finally making the leap from summer to fall—which is reason enough to put a bounce in your step. If crisp autumn air in the great outdoors always gives you a little extra lift, get a jump on the season with this Adventure: a two-night weekend whitewater rafting and camping trip in the West Virginia wilderness.
On the weekend of October 19, hop on over to River Expeditions in Oak Hill, West Virginia, where our team of LivingSocialites will be waiting to check us in for the weekend any time after 6 p.m. on Friday. Choose from four different lodging options: bring-your-own-tent; bring-your-own-sleeping-bag (and stay in a friend's tent); rent your own tent-on-platform for two; or make some new friends in a shared rustic cabin. Then dive into the action with a meet-and-greet happy hour at the on-site Red Dog Saloon, complete with two drink tickets and piles of chicken wings.
The next morning, we'll enjoy a continental breakfast before heading out on a full-day whitewater rafting trip over the Lower New River's world-class rapids, with lunch provided on the river. Wetsuits are available to rent on site. During our trip, we'll gather under the 876-foot-high New River Gorge Bridge for a front-row seat to the 33rd annual Bridge Day Festival, where we'll see rappelers and base jumpers taking the plunge.
From there, we'll meet back up at the saloon for a video-viewing party (with two drink tickets each for beer or wine) to watch all the thrills and spills, before a hearty barbecue dinner with live bluegrass music and an exclusive after-party.
After a continental breakfast on Sunday, we'll pounce at the chance to purchase additional discounted activities, a second whitewater rafting trip—on the Lower or Upper Gauley and experience the final day of Gauley Season—and a range of outdoor excursions. Choose among mountain biking, paintball, catwalk, zip-lining, and horseback tours. We've already made it over summer's final hurdle, but we can still jump at an outdoor Adventure that's bound to be loads of fun.

Fall Foliage Canopy Tour + Festival
Washington, D.C.
Laying low is a good strategy to beat the heat of a DC summer, but with fall looming, you're ready to be back at the top of your game. Don't let the heat and humidity keep you grounded for another second—start your fall off with flying colors thanks to this tree-top Adventure: a fall foliage zipline canopy tour in Harpers Ferry, West Virginia, with a mountain festival and BYO picnic.
We'll meet at Harpers Ferry Adventure Center, where our gravity-defying gang will be waiting to greet us and check us in. After a short practice run, we'll head skyward for a 90-minute zipline tour. As we glide through the forest, we'll get a bird's-eye view of the gorgeous fall foliage draped over Harper's Ferry and its surroundings, as the Potomac and Shenandoah rivers cut through the Blue Ridge Mountains below us.
When we come back to Earth, we'll raise the stakes with an outdoor BYO picnic lunch, where we'll toss back whatever snacks and drinks we choose to bring along. We'll also receive complimentary access to HFAC's awesome Fall Festival, where live bluegrass music, games, and activities (think Polaris rides, cornhole, and a moonbounce) will ensure we stay in top form. Be sure to bring some extra cash—local wine tastings and food from Big Daddy's BBQ will be available for purchase. Don't let the dog days get you down; this is one autumnal Adventure that'll have you feeling sky high.

Sahara Dance at 918 F Street
Belly Dancing + Bellini
Washington, D.C.
Certain Colombian songstresses have shown the beauty of a swiveling hip to the world. To get your own middle in motion, sashay over to LivingSocial's 918 F Street with this offer: $29 for admission to a introduction to belly dancing class with pro instructor Rachel Kay Brookmire, including one bellini and a short show.
Owner of Sahara Dance -- voted Best Dance Class in 2010, 2011, and 2013 by Washington City Paper -- Rachel has more than ten years of belly dancing experience under her colorful hip scarves and has taught thousands to shimmy. After a discussion on the ancient history of this Middle Eastern art form, you'll tie on your own vibrant scarf and twist and tone your torso with hip shimmies, isolations, belly undulations, and traveling steps. Women of all shapes, ages, and sizes can enjoy this expressive and elegant dance -- no previous experience necessary. After you master the moves, you'll sip a bellini and enjoy a short performance from Sahara Dance community members. You and your hips know: when there's a beat, your body will move.
