It started in July of 2008: Maia and Bram were organizing trips for their friends—camping one weekend, skydiving the next. Soon friends of friends started calling and asking to come on the trips and it wasn't long before there was a crew every single weekend. After a successful summer of sold-out excursion, it was clear that this was much more than just a hobby, and thus, Urban Escapes was born.

Shortly thereafter, our unique brand caught fire and, in struggling to meet the demand, the expansion efforts began. Urban Escapes quickly became the premier provider of social adventures in Boston, New York, Philadelphia, and Washington, DC. After three exciting years, LivingSocial took notice and the two teams decided to join forces to bring fun folks around the country even more unique, one-of-a-kind experiences.
