Having a hard time shaking your holiday food-induced hibernation? Wake up from your winter nap(a) and join us on an Adventure in the rolling hills of wine country with wine tasting and a mustard-making class.

We'll meet at Andretti Winery (yes, the racing Andretti), where our vine team will be waiting to help us along throughout the day. A reception tasting awaits us on arrival, and will be followed by a gourmet boxed lunch from Piper Johnson Catering—including a sandwich, salad, fruit, and dessert. As we eat, we'll learn about the history of the 42-acre Italianate winery and its famous racing owner. We'll then head to the tasting room to try five selections from Andretti's diverse portfolio, which is noted for crisp Pinot Grigios and graceful Chardonnays.

After sipping and swirling, we'll get a taste of one of Napa's other in-season products as we move to the winery's villa for an hour-long mustard-making course. We'll settle in and get prepped to turn these tricky seeds into delicious spreads with the instruction of 2010 Mustard Festival Chef of the Year Richard Haake, along with his team of chefs from Winery Chefs. A Napa Valley chef since 1997, Haake will share his best tips and tricks for formulating a perfect condiment so that we can make a jar of our own. As he shows us the ways, we'll try our own hands at making mustard, after which we'll dine on a bowl of award-winning Dutch Mustard Soup. Fully refueled from a spicy day of revving up our winters, we'll return to the raceway of life with homemade mustard, a recipe book in hand, and enough energy to keep our motors running throughout the rest of the season.
