In the summer, we feel like raisins in the sun, but come fall, the season is ripe to soak up milder temperatures as we sip on the ultimate autumnal beverage: wine. Get your fill with this adventure: a day of visiting two wineries, including tastings and paired cheeses, and a low country boil meal.
We'll meet at Perimeter Mall in Dunwoody near Seasons 52, where our vino-loving team will be waiting to usher us onto a deluxe coach bus to our first stop: Three Sister's Vineyards & Winery, one of the first family-owned wine-making farms in Dahlonega owned by our hosts, Sharon and Doug Paul. The signature wines at this gorgeous spot are the Fat Boy Red and Fat Boy White. Next stop is Blackstock Vineyards and Winery. We'll be greeted by the proprietors, who'll give us a quick tour of the vines, and lead us to a tasting room for fine samplings of several varietals and cheese pairings.
After enjoying the swill of ten varietals, it's time to fortify our stomachs. We'll feast on a low country boil catered by Bobber's Fish House, which will be served at Three Sisters. Enjoy fresh seafood from the salty marshes mixed in with helpings of fall vegetables before perusing the vineyard's selection of vino. Find something tasty to take home? Go for it: With discounts on bottles and cases, the price for that priceless bottle will be much easier to swallow. After all, there's nothing like a taste of the harvest (even if it was last year's) to get you into the spirit of fall.
